Dark Lightning

The Fermi Gamma ray telescope captured an outburst of high energy positrons in 2010. That’s just the type of energy that Fermi is supposed to detect. However this energy was not coming from a distant black hole, it turned out it was coming from our own Earth!

Positrons are the anti matter equivalent of electrons. The cause if this outburst appears to be ‘dark lightning’, a theoretical  phenomena that is explained in this video.
