Where in the Universe is the Milky Way?
A long ago, astronomers grouped the Milky Way, our galaxy, in the Virgo Supercluster. This supercluster covers around 100 galaxy groups. Meanwhile, in a fascinating new study, a team of scientists, led by R. Brent Tully of the University of Hawai, discovered that the Milky Way is a part of the much larger galaxy supercluster named Laniakea.
