Rapidly Spinning Supermassive Black Hole Tears a Distant Star Apart

Using the All Sky Automated Survey for SuperNovae (ASAS-SN), scientists at first have thought that they have detected a superluminous supernova. However, it turns out that they have discovered a supermassive black hole tearing apart a wandering star.
