Scientists Observed Collision of Two Neutron Stars for the First Time

Using the Advanced Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO), astronomers have recorded a massive collision of two neutron stars 130 million light-years away from our planet. The explosion creates light, heavy elements and gravitational waves. According to astronomers, this event may pave the way to a new era of astronomy.
