Formalhaut b May Be Reclassified
When Formalhaut b was first discovered it was hailed as the first exoplanet to have been found by means of visible light. However shortly afterwards research seemed to indicate that Formalhaut b wasn’t a planet at all but just a dust cloud. Now study of new images taken by Hubble may prove that Formalhaut b is in fact a planet and the planet may be brought back to life soon.
An exoplanet is a planet outside our solar system. A total of 843 such planets have been identified as of October 25, 2012.It is thought that there are many billions of planets in our galaxy, not only occurring around stars but also as free roaming bodies. The nearest known exoplanet is Alpha Centauri Bb.
