China’s Space Disasters

The Long March launch vehicle has become the backbone of the Chinese Space Industry and the latest versions nowadays are very reliable, however it was a cruel learning curve and many innocent people paid the price with their lives.

In the aftermath of one of the failures a U.S. satellite makers shared information which allowed the Chinese to determine that the problem was in the welds. However the US government deemed this sharing illegal and fined  the company $14 million.
