Chinese Space Programme – Threat To The US?

China has recently completed its first ‘manual docking’ and has put its first woman into space. Here is an  interesting discussion on how the Chinese space programme is viewed by the US. Not surprisingly some see it as a threat and and there should be no cooperation while others are of the opposite view.

Every technological advance can be used in a military application and the US and Russia over the last fifty years have used their space projects for military purposes, be it spy satellites, global positioning systems or what ever else. So in line with every other space power I think it would be naive to suggest that there is no military dimension to the Chinese space programme. The Chinese would be viewing other space programmes as a threat just as the US is perhaps viewing China’s space programme as a threat.
