To really observe something in Space, you need to observe it using the full electromagnetic spectrum. Therefore you need to observe at different wavelengths, which requires different telescopes. These are the key ideas behind the Great Observatories Origins Deep Survey, or GOODS for short. This video explains how GOODS combines the ‘seeing’ power of the worlds most advanced observatories to give extreme deep views of the Cosmos.
The Hubble Deep Field is a very deep image of a small piece of sky in the northern constellation of Ursa Major. GOODS gives us a view of a piece of the Sky approximately 60 times bigger.
