Mars Polar Ice Caps
– “For You To Enjoy And Share With Friends” –
The Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter shows the polar ice caps seasonal variations.
On Mars’ polar regions, carbon dioxide freezes up to 2 feet thick and during winter 30 % of the carbon dioxide freezes. As the Sun begins to thaw the ice it turns into a gas. The gas release carries dark sand and dust, moving them down the steep sides of the dunes.
